Lily Rose Tarts - Designing an online shop for an artisan brand

The project in a nutshell

Lily Rose Tarts is a Nottingham-based artisan tart brand, carried by a growing community around a podcast, Slice the tart and spill the tea, and events like the Secret Tart Club, the Little Tart Club and the Baking Tart Club.

The site is live here: lilyrosetarts.com

The goal of this project was simple: build a site that clarifies Lily Rose's value proposition. A place where you can order a tart, book a workshop, follow the podcast and discover the story behind the brand, all without friction.

What I built

I worked on the entire project, from the early thinking through to going live, including structuring the catalogue and setting up the different tools.

A shop designed for everyday use

I structured the catalogue around the brand's signature products:

  • Large 12-inch tarts
  • Solo pack of 4 tartlets
  • Duo pack of 6 tartlets
  • Trio pack of 9 tartlets
  • Boxes of mini tartlets
  • Custom Gift Box

Each product is configured with its own set of options, to match the way the client actually receives orders.

An automated delivery and collection system

I set up a system that lets customers choose between delivery and collection on site. For delivery, Wix automatically calculates the available options based on the address entered: fees adjust depending on the distance, and delivery is limited beyond a certain radius. No more manual quotes, everything happens straight at checkout.

A space dedicated to the community

The brand really lives through its events. So I created a dedicated section to showcase the three clubs, with booking and payment logic integrated directly into the site.

Rather than locking in a fixed calendar, the site is designed to be updated easily over time, following the brand's real rhythm.

The podcast woven into the journey

The podcast is a core part of the identity. As a first step, I integrated the Instagram excerpts with Watch buttons. In the medium term, the structure is ready to host the longer episodes, distributed on YouTube, Spotify and Apple Podcasts.

What I took away from it

This was one of my first projects on an e-commerce platform like Wix, and it turned out to be a genuinely rewarding experience. I learned a lot, both about the logic of running an online shop and about how to support a client.

Even if it's sometimes frustrating not to be able to code freely on it, Wix is a platform that suits clients very well: once they're trained on the different options, they can keep full control over their content, without depending on me for the smallest change.
